You are presented with the volume The Cost of Conflict: Untold Stories, Georgian–Ossetian Context, which captures the Georgian–South Ossetian conflict through the eyes of people living on both sides of the Administrative Boundary Line, and reflects the profound costs borne by individuals from both communities—a burden they have endured and continue to endure.

The collection of personal narratives began in late 2015. The contributors include men and women of various ages, both older and younger, those who grew up during the conflict, and those who had lived side by side before it, including individuals recalling experiences of coexistence as well as those who tend to avoid such memories. Although each person’s lived experience is entirely unique and imbued with deeply personal pain, names and surnames are deliberately omitted to underscore the broader resonance of their experiences and the parallels shared by countless others affected by the conflict.

This volume was published with the financial support of the Government of the United Kingdom and USAID.
