Meeting at Akaki Tsereteli State University

As part of the project “Youth Peace Initiatives,” a public lecture was held on the topic “Georgian-Abkhaz Relations: An Analysis of Peace Policy in the Post-Independence Period.” The event was organized by the Youth Peace Network “The 16th Element” in collaboration with the Department of Social Sciences at Akaki Tsereteli State University.

The session was led by Medea Tabatadze, an invited lecturer at the university, and Associate Professor Tamaz Gogberashvili. The speakers emphasized that implementing a sustainable peace policy requires a long-term and strategic approach grounded in broad public participation, including youth engagement and integrated intergenerational dialogue.

The activity was attended by students of Akaki Tsereteli State University. Following the lecture, a discussion and debate took place, focusing on the development of peace policy in the post-independence period. The participants discussed the steps taken by the state, the involvement of international actors, and the importance of dialogue and cooperation in the conflict de-escalation process.

Students also shared their initiatives and ideas on how young people can become actively involved in peacebuilding efforts.
