Rethinking the Practice of Dealing with the Past

On June 16, a meeting with the students and academic staff of Telavi Iakob Gogebashvili State University was held within the framework of the project - "Rethinking the Practice of Dealing with the Past". Experts invited to the meeting - Nino Kalandarishvili and Paata Zakareishvili - spoke about the need of rethinking and dealing with the past in the context of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict and the importance for the availability of objective information and unbiased facts in this process. The experts also presented the electronic portal "Timeline of the Georgian-Ossetian Conflict" created within the project, which chronologically combines archival materials related to the Georgian-Ossetian relations and the dynamics of the conflict from 1977 to 2008. The Institute for the Study of Nationalism and Conflict plans to announce a competition for student analytical essays on the topics discussed at the meeting. Students participating in the competition will be able to explore specific issues and events based on the materials of the "Georgian-Ossetian Conflict Timeline" and share their vision with the public.
