The final event of the “Education for Reconciliation” project was held

On October 26, 2023, the Institute for the Study of Nationalism and Conflicts hosted the final event of the “Education for Reconciliation” project.
Implemented in Georgia with the support of the Embassy of the Netherlands, the project involved schools from Samegrelo, Kvemo Kartli, and Shida Kartli. Among other activities, it included a series of training sessions, during which participating teachers received instruction on peace education and conflict-sensitive approaches. Furthermore, the teachers had the opportunity to implement their own peace initiatives within their schools.
The audience was welcomed by Mr. Morris Paulussen, Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands to Georgia, Nana Gabelia, Minister of Education and Culture of Abkhazia, and Giorgi Gabedava, Minister for Justice and Civil Integration of Abkhazia.
A presentation on the project was delivered by Nino Kalandarishvili, Chairperson of the Board of the Institute for the Study of Nationalism and Conflicts, and Nino Kobakhidze, Project Manager. Participating teachers also presented their school-based peace initiatives to the audience.
The event featured the presentation of an analytical document titled “Education for Peace: Prospects for the Implementation of Peacebuilding Approaches in Georgia.”
Attendees included representatives from higher education institutions, the governmental and non-governmental sectors, as well as field experts and specialists.
